We are so excited to welcome our guests to Charleston, South Carolina. This town holds such a special place in our hearts and we are thrilled to share it with you all. Charleston is full of wonderful places to eat, places to go, and things to do. Below are a few of our favorite suggestions and we hope you can experience some of them!

Restaurants:

167 Raw – incredible seafood and a Charleston staple. They do not take reservations so we suggest putting in your name early and walking around until your table is ready! We recommend the oyster shooters, ceviche, tuna burger, and lobster rolls!

Le Farfalle – our favorite Italian food! The whipped ricotta, duck agnolotti, and rigatoni verde are a must!

Stellas – delicious Greek food! The flaming cheese is a sight to see and we always get the lamb.

HomeTeam BBQ or Lewis BBQ – you must try BBQ while you are in Charleston. Our favorites from HomeTeam are the black bean HomeTeam salad, the burger, chopped brisket, mac and cheese, and Brunswick stew. You also must try their frozen Irish coffee or the Game Changer – a drink that Charleston is famous for! Lewis BBQ is known for their brisket and pulled pork. We suggest getting green chile corn pudding and collard greens as a side!

82 Queen – fantastic southern food that you need to taste while in the Lowcountry. They are known for their she crab soup and fried green tomatoes. We encourage everyone to also try their grits if you haven’t had them before!

King Street Dispensary – our favorite casual bar in Charleston. They sometimes have live music and have a great outdoor patio. We always get the burger with truffle fries or the bang bang shrimp tacos with a cold Michelob Ultra.

Frannie & the Fox – we love the outdoor patio at this restaurant which is located in Hotel Emeline. Sip on a cocktail by the outdoor fireplace and eat some delicious pizza while you relax!

Lounges and Cocktails:

Vintage Lounge – our favorite place in Charleston to grab a drink and a delicious charcuterie board. Matthew’s favorite drink is the New York Sour and Pooja’s is the vigilante margarita or their espresso martini.

The Citrus Club – this is a rooftop bar at the Dewberry Hotel and our personal favorite for the views.

Market Street Pavilion – this is a rooftop bar at Market Pavilion Hotel. This is a famous rooftop bar in Charleston that has great pool views and refreshing Mango Mojitos.

The Belmont – fantastic vibes and they play black and white movies in the back! We love their White Russians!

Fiat Lux – this is the rooftop bar at Hotel Bennett. Not only does this place have incredible cocktails (we always get a Paloma here) but we love their truffle fries.

Sightseeing:

Historic Charleston City Market – this is one of the nation’s oldest public markets that is filled with local artists and Charleston bites. It is also surrounded by incredible shops, restaurants, and hotels. Stop by the Callie’s Little Biscuit stand to get a delicious snack. Our favorite is the blackberry jam!

Rainbow Row – walk down the Peninsula along Rainbow Row – a stretch of pastel-colored houses that Charleston is famous for and make sure to get a picture. The stretch ends at The Battery where you can take in views of the ocean and relax in White Point Garden.

Pineapple Fountain – a Charleston classic along the waterfront at 1 Vendue Range, Charleston, SC. Make sure to get a picture for the memories! The Vendue Hotel is right there as well which has a great rooftop for lunch and drinks!

Fort Sumter – get tickets to go on a boat ride to see and learn about Fort Sumter. Fun fact – Fort Sumter is the site of the first shots of the Civil War.

Charleston Walking Tour – Charleston is a beautiful, quaint town that is very accessible by foot. It is rich in history and we recommend taking a walking tour to learn all about this historic city.

The Notebook Tour – one of the most romantic films of all time, “The Notebook” was filmed in Charleston. Take a tour of all the places in the movie from Allie’s summer house at Boone Hall Plantation in Mount Pleasant, SC, Cypress Gardens where the iconic scene of Allie and Noah paddling through the swamp is filmed, and the American Theater where Allie and Noah go to the movies, dance in the street, and then lay on the ground holding hands. Fun Fact- The American Theater is where Pooja and Matthew took their Save the Date pictures!

Patriots Point and USS Yorktown – Patriots Point is on the Charleston Harbor in Mount Pleasant, SC and is the home of Patriots Point Naval and Maritime Museum and a fleet of National Historic Landmark ships, including the World War II aircraft Carrier, the USS Yorktown. Take a tour of the museum and ship to learn more about our nation’s history.
